Chapter 3 - The Human life
To better understand our existence, we must explore the vessel we inhabit: the human body.
What constitutes a human life? What elements can we dissect from this complex being? Essentially, we can break it down into three core components: body, mind, and soul.
The Physical, Mental, and Spiritual
To lead a fulfilling and happy life, we must nourish these three elements with healthy choices rather than toxic food, ideas, or lifestyles. As the saying goes, “Anything more than what you need is poison. - Ghandi” Therefore, it’s essential to truly feel and understand ourselves.
The Physical Body
Our physical body is the most tangible of the three components, as it exists in the three-dimensional space we perceive. The way our bodies respond to our lifestyle choices is evident, providing clear physical evidence of our habits. Let’s begin with this aspect.
Physical Body
When we consume nutritious foods—like lean meats, vegetables, and healthy fats—we feel energised rather than lethargic, contrasting sharply with the bloating and lethargic that follows unhealthy, fried foods.
Next, consider our physical joints and muscles. They require regular movement to thrive. Poor posture coupled with non movement can lead to pain and long-term issues. Just as we feed our bodies nourishing food, we must also provide our joints and muscle with healthy movement.
Go to a gym or fitness class regularly. Coupled with a good dietician. You should be good to go.
The Mind
What we feed our minds are ideas—those concepts that shape our character and moral compass. If we harbor negative ideas, unhealthy thoughts can take root, leading to mental distress. On the other hand if we nurture positive ideas, we can navigate life's challenges with resilience.
Think of good ideas as nutrition for the mind. A strong mental diet fosters resilience, helping us deflect negativity and act as decent human beings. It’s important to remember that while there are no perfect saints among us, we all wrestle with our inner demons. Always strive to act from a place of goodness. Bring the light into reality.
This is the essence of perspectivism: equipping ourselves with knowledge to face the world, bit by bit.
The Soul
The soul goes beyond the three-dimensional realm and the confines of our minds; it is the essence of life itself. The difference between a living human being and one who has passed is life itself—a concept that even up to now modern science and technology cant explain.
To understand this better, engage with the divine. Explore the teachings of primary religions. Personally I was born into Islam, questioned its teachings and practices, and ultimately fell in love with its way of life. This journey has instilled in me a sense of humility, guiding me to treat every individual with respect. No life is more valuable than another. Each person has the capacity to feel love and has loved ones. Without love, life loses its meaning.
Begin by nurturing your love for God and let it manifest in your relationships with others. Spread love and light.
I believe that various religions can bring your spirit closer to the divine. Each person’s journey is unique, and what you discover will be personal. There are compassionate and cruel individuals across all races and religions. Remember, light and darkness coexist everywhere; do not confuse the purity of a belief with the actions of its followers.
